Kirk Dorn’s Community Involvement

An active member of his community in Buffalo, Kirk Dorn believes that community outreach, activity, and engagement are crucial for building a happy, functioning network where everyone is able to thrive. He is a part of several organizations that seek to make a difference in the Buffalo region and beyond.

For several years, Kirk has been involved with the West Side Rowing Club. This Buffalo-based organization is more than a hundred years old — it grew from a small wooden shack in the early 1900s to a booming organization housed in a building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, with programs ranging from learning to row to housing some of the fastest competitive rowing teams across the nation. Kirk previously served as President of the Rowing Club, and he still serves on the board as a member.

Alongside his passion for community activity, Kirk is also the Team Captain for Ride for Roswell, a position he’s held proudly for 12 years. Ride for Rosewell raises money for the ongoing fight against cancer. Founded in 1996, The Ride has grown into one of the largest charity cycling events in North America. Kirk’s team has more than 45 riders annually and has raised more than $250,000 for the organization so far.

Kirk Dorn also works with a nonprofit organization based out of Buffalo called Journey’s End Refugee Services. The Christian community-based organization’s mission is to welcome refugees to the community while providing them with the resources necessary to be an active, successful, contributing member of the community of Western New York. They provide necessary items for newly arriving families – covering everything from kitchenware to linens to toiletries – and offer complete legal services, including immigration legal representation.
